The Role
We are looking for an experienced HR professional to join us as we strengthen our strategic approach to recruitment in Herefordshire Council.
This is a varied job which involves putting the right strategies in place, developing our EVP, maximising opportunities to work regionally and ensuring our contracts perform well and provide value for money.  You will work closely with internal teams so that our offer to new recruits is the best it can be, our future workforce pipelines are established and our values are reflected in all our recruitment activities.
You will be an experienced HR professional who is skilled in influencing senior managers, driving forward improvements and working collaboratively across organisations. The ability to implement change and make ideas happen in a political environment is essential.
In return, the council offers 31 days holiday, a superb pension scheme, annual leave purchase, staff benefits portal, flexible hours and location, on site canteen, strong wellbeing offer and professional development. You will be given the support and freedom to put your ideas into practice and this would be the ideal stepping stone to a senior leadership HR role.
We are a small HR team, focused on delivery, where everyone’s contribution is noticed. We enjoy our work and really want to make a difference. If you want to join us and would like an informal discussion please contact Debbie Thompson, HR Business Partner debbie.thompson@herefordshire.gov.uk
Benefits of working for Herefordshire Council:
A competitive salary, generous holiday entitlement, and access to our contributory pension and staff benefits scheme, which includes:

  • Generous Annual Leave: 31 days’ annual leave (pro rata) plus bank holidays. You can also purchase an additional 10 days per annum
  • Flexible working: flexi-time, job-share, part-time hours and, in some instances, home working
  • Employee Assistance Programme: 24/7 access to support and counselling
  • Payment of professional membership fees
  • Pick your perks – our benefits include access to a range of retail, leisure, holiday and health benefits. This includes savings, cash back and discounts.

We welcome applicants whatever their personal characteristics or social identity. All requests for flexible working arrangements and reasonable adjustments will be considered.
