Sixth Form Colleges’ Support Staff Salary Spine, £33,325 to £35,451 pro rata (points 19 – 21)
Actual starting salary will be £29,233 based on point 19 of the Sixth Form Colleges’ Support Staff Salary Spine points 19 to 21 (currently £33,325 - £35,451 pro-rata).
37 hours per week, term-time only plus 2 weeks
We are looking for a Head of Year with excellent leadership skills to play a leading role in the work of the pastoral and safeguarding support teams at the College. Working as part of a team of Heads of Year and Pastoral Tutors, Heads of Year play a key role in ensuring that the pastoral system achieves its goals. Heads of Year act as a point of support, advice and guidance for the team of Pastoral Tutors and deal with initial referrals from Pastoral Tutors for students with complex issues.
They will support and promote equality and diversity, safeguarding and child protection awareness within the College; help to maintain and promote good discipline; help to develop a culture of mutual support; and share best practice within the lead tutor and personal tutor team.
Heads of Year also act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (DDSLs) and will work with the Designated Safeguarding Lead and the wider safeguarding team.
The successful applicant must possess the knowledge, energy, resilience and enthusiasm for such an important role and have experience of managing pastoral and welfare related services, working with a range of client groups and a solutions-focussed approach.
A track record of working within a child protection/safeguarding context and liaison with multi-agencies to help safeguard young people and enable them to succeed at College is desirable. You will have experience of working with young people and successfully contributing to the success of a team.
