George Salter Academy is a friendly, happy and vibrant 11-18 academy, serving a multi-cultural community and we are looking for a Centre of Inclusion Manager to join us from November 2024. The role is based on working 37 hours per week, term time plus 2 weeks (40 working weeks). There is also the opportunity for the right candidate to join the academy's Extended Leadership Team on a 12-month temporary contract, responsible for inclusion (please see attached separate job description).
The successful candidate will manage the academy's Centre of Inclusion on a day-to-day basis, directly supervising and working with the students accessing it. The postholder will be responsible for the establishment of identified groups and for the delivery of appropriate behaviour and intervention strategies set within the ethos of the academy, thus contributing to the improved behaviour and attendance of relevant students.
Our aim is for all students to develop in knowledge, confidence and ability in a caring and inclusive learning environment. We work hard to recognise the individual needs of pupils so that they can reach their potential and succeed to the highest of their ability, that they become engaged in an interesting and varied learning curriculum, preparing them for the challenges and opportunities of our modern and ever changing society.
Applicants for this post must be enthusiastic and possess a determined character, together with a positive approach to working with young people and the ability to set clear guidelines for them. Flexibility is key as the daily role is a reactive one requiring you to move to where need is greatest.
Previous experience of working with or interacting with children or young people is required for this role as well as good communication skills and an ability to work with minimum of supervision and to manage students. This post is open to any applicant with suitable skills and experience regardless of qualifications.
The successful candidate will also benefit from being part of Ormiston Academies Trust, a MAT of 43 primary and secondary academies. The Trust’s vision is for all young people to have access to the highest academic, social and practical skills required to achieve their full potential. OAT support all staff so that they can enhance and develop their professional skills whatever their role within the trust.
If you want to work with a great team of staff and students, and feel that you have the right skills, please apply before the closing date of 9am on Monday 7th October 2024, interviews will be held later that week. Early applications are encouraged as we reserve the right to close the vacancy early should a suitable candidate be found.
To discuss the position, please contact Head of School, Rupi Bellingham, via email at r.bellingham@georgesalter.com
George Salter Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment.
