The post of Education Welfare Officer is available immediately on a part time, temporary contract until Friday 18 July 2025.
Hours: 3.5 hours per day, 5 days per week, working mornings (17.5 hours per week, 0.48 FTE)

This is a fantastic opportunity for an exceptional Education Welfare Officer to join Kings Norton Girls’ School and Sixth Form. KNGS is an outstanding Single Academy Trust, a non-selective girls’ school with a co-education sixth form. We strive to “open a world of opportunities” for our students enabling them to demonstrate respect and courage in order to flourish. We are exceptionally proud of the excellent academic progress our students make, but equally proud of our pastoral care and the school’s calm and purposeful environment which enables all our students to be articulate, respectful, independent, caring and socially accomplished young people who flourish.

This post is a key pastoral role, working closely with students, families, and staff to support student attendance and well-being. The role focuses on identifying and addressing attendance issues, conducting safe and well checks, and helping students whose attendance is declining. The officer will work in line with the school's safeguarding and attendance policies to reduce persistent and severe absence.

The successful candidate will have experience of working with children, young people, parents/carers/families within the field of education, social care or the voluntary sector, as part of a multi-disciplinary team. They will have a good understanding of the issues and problems impacting families with the ability to motivate and challenge disaffected young people. Additionally, the ability to form, build and maintain good relationships with children, young people, parents/carers, colleagues and other professionals is essential. A driving licence and use of a car is essential to visit students’ homes; travel expenses are paid.
