Family Support Worker

St Wilfrid’s Catholic Academy 

St Wilfrid’s Catholic Academy is seeking to appoint a Family Support Worker to work with children with varying levels of need and provide support to their families.

St Wilfrid’s Catholic Academy is a 1.5 form entry primary school served by an excellent and hardworking staff team. The pupils at St Wilfrid’s have exemplary behavior and consistently display strong attitudes to learning.  The school is very well supported by the Newman Catholic Collegiate and this enables St Wilfrid’s to provide tailored and supportive CPD to all members of staff.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a sound understanding of safeguarding and will work closely with the school safeguarding officer and DSL to provide early help intervention.
  • Work hard to support the school in ensuring all pupils attend school every day, on time and be able to support pupils and families to overcome barriers to achieving this.
  • Have an understanding of child development, especially the social and emotional development of children, and be able to support pupils whom have additional SEMH needs.
  • Be flexible and responsive to identified needs of the school and ensure positive outcomes are achieved by working for the pupils of the school
  • Be open to professional development and be willing to take advice and direction from line managers and senior leaders
  • Apply the school policies consistently and routinely to ensure a positive and long lasting impact on behaviors for learning are evident.

This position is permanent, 32.5 hours a week Monday-Friday, term time only.

Relevant qualifications: NVQ level 3 or above or equivalent.

Actual salary: £20,530 - £23,030
