Grade 3, SCP 5 – 6  (FTE £23,500 - £23,893). Actual salary is calculated at £17,306-£17,595

30 hours per week during term time split across two Shires MAT sites (Astwood Bank Primary School and Shires Multi Academy Trust Central Office based at Ridgeway Secondary School) plus a further 60 hours to be worked during school holidays.

We require an excellent and highly motivated Finance Administrator/assistant to join our skilled team of staff.  The focus will be on providing financial and administrative support to the School Business Manager and Central Finance team.

School Finance Administrator/Central Finance Assistant

School Business Manager/ Chief Finance Officer

30 hours per week term time (split 15 hours at Astwood Bank, 15 hours at Shires Central Office) with a further 60 hours to be worked during school holidays.

Main purpose of the job:

To support the School Business Manager and Chief Finance Officer with the day to day running of the academy’s financial systems and operations.  

Duties and responsibilities – School finance administrator (15 hours) based at Astwood Bank Primary School To assist with the operation and maintenance of the school’s manual and computerised financial control and information systems, updating financial records and assisting in the production of financial information and reports for the Business Manager and Headteacher. To undertake routine accounting operations including the receiving and processing purchase orders, goods receipting, timely forwarding of invoices and requests for payment to the central team, balancing petty cash, credit card statement reconciliation and administration of ParentPay. Oversee order processing and ensure sufficient funds are available for new purchases and that they are signed by the designated authorised person/s. Prepare, organise and maintain financial and procurement files. To respond to account queries from staff and suppliers, resolving problems and using discretion in referring issues to the Business Manager. Ensure best value and procurement processes are adhered to when purchasing items for the school. Oversee billing of school letting arrangements. Maintain the contracts register ensuring SBM is notified of contracts due to expire before notice period to allow for retendering. To undertake any clerical and general office duties, including filing, duplicating, photocopying, maintenance of both paper and electronic filing and record systems. To provide assistance in the booking and monitoring of trips Recording and monitoring of Pupil Premium spend, under direction of the School Business Manager To undertake other appropriate duties at the request of the Headteacher, Governors, teaching staff or support staff management of the school. Duties and responsibilities – Central Finance Assistant (15 hours) based at Shires Central Office (Ridgeway Secondary School) Accurate and timely processing of purchase invoices across the Trust Schools and Central team, ensuring appropriate authorisation is obtained and documents are scanned into the finance software for audit purposes Liaising with suppliers, academy staff and other central finance team members as appropriate to resolve queries in a timely manner Maintaining supplier account details Monthly Supplier Statement reconciliation Assist with the preparation of payment runs To assist with the internal scrutiny and year end finance audits as required Ad hoc tasks as required
