APPOINTMENT OF A LEARNING & SUPPORT ASSISTANT
19.5 or 32.5 HOURS PER WEEK, TERM TIME ONLY
SALARY: £23,500 – £23,893 PRO RATA:
- 19.5 hours - £10,879.11 - £11,061.04 per annum
- 32.5 hours - £18,131.84 - £18,435.07 per annum
Chadsgrove School is a day special school for pupils whose special educational needs arise from their physical disabilities. In addition a significant number have profound and multiple learning difficulties, whilst others have sensory impairments and/or communication difficulties.
At present there are 140 pupils on role within the 2-19 age range and there are approximately 45 Teaching Assistants/Learning & Support Assistants working throughout the school. Their roles are varied but consist of supporting teaching activities in the classroom and assisting with the changing and personal care requirements of some of the children. The work can often involve lifting pupils and candidates need to be physically fit and capable of working co-operatively within a multi-disciplinary team. It is essential that candidates are adaptable with a good sense of humour and have an ability to empathise and work positively with the pupils’ individual needs.
Previous experience of working with physically disabled children would be an advantage but it is not essential, as training will be given.
The post will involve working in class situations with other teaching assistants/learning & support assistants. Some of the work will concentrate on supporting individual children in those classes to enable them to access the school curriculum fully. It is essential that you are willing to be trained to administer medication if necessary.
Working hours are 8.50-3.45pm Monday-Friday however you are paid from 8.45am every day. The difference of 5 minutes are totalled together and you are required to attend after school meetings. Advance notice of these meetings are provided.
