We are seeking a food technician to work 39 weeks per year, supporting our delivery of food and nutrition courses in Key Stages 3 and 4. Every child in the school studies food as part of the technology rotation in years 7 and 8. From year 9 onwards, there is a strong uptake for level 2 hospitality and catering. The role involves assisting our food teacher with demonstration lessons and practicals, with some ‘in class support’ during lessons as needed. It will also be necessary to prepare and clear away ingredients and equipment, and when needed, make arrangements for maintenance and repair of cooking equipment. Printing and organising recipes will require some basic IT skills.

We are seeking a technician with experience of kitchen work and who can quickly adapt to working directly with children. We offer ‘on the job’ training to suitably qualified applicant, who will at the very least have a reasonable range of cooking skills. The successful applicant will have excellent organisational and communication skills and work independently, being comfortable working with and around secondary school students. Experience of working in a hospitality related environment would be an advantage.
