This is an exciting time to join Walsall Council’s Adult Social Care service. We have recently appointed a new and forward thinking leadership team that has brought a renewed focus on professional practice development across the workforce, to ensure we promote positive and improved outcomes for all our service users.

We now have a number of Social Worker, Occupational Therapist and Senior Practitioner vacancies across the directorate, and are looking for enthusiastic and committed people to join our team; to help shape and deliver our services, and contribute to the development of a model of best practice for the area. 

Social Workers £31288 - £36019 / Senior Practitioners £35093- £39660 

We have recently reviewed our Social Worker pay grades, alongside the career progression and professional development pathways. We now have a number of vacancies for qualified Social Workers; both newly qualified and experienced. We are particularly keen to hear from qualified Approved Mental Health Practitioners and Best Interest Assessor s. We also have a number of vacancies in our Learning Disability Team and would welcome applications from social workers with an interest and/or experience. 

In return, we offer our commitment to your on-going career development and progression. We will ensure you are given the opportunity to access post qualifying training and on-going development opportunities.  Social Workers wishing to undertake PQ award training will be encouraged and supported to do so, and newly qualified Social Workers will be supported through our newly developed NQSW programme. 

Senior Practitioner appointments are also available to those who are qualified as an Approved Mental Health Practitioner or a Best Interest assessor and have the relevant skills and experience to undertake a mentoring role.

We now have a number of vacancies for qualified Occupational Therapists in our Locality teams; both newly qualified and experienced. We are particularly keen to hear from qualified Approved Mental Health Practitioners and Best Interest Assessors. 

In return, we offer our commitment to your on-going career development and progression. We will ensure you are given the opportunity to access post qualifying training and on-going development opportunities.  Occupational Therapists wishing to undertake PQ award training will be encouraged and supported to do so. 

Senior Practitioner appointments are also available to those who are qualified as an Approved Mental Health Practitioner or Best Interest assessor and have the relevant skills and experience to undertake a mentoring role. 

In return, we will offer access to supportive experienced Team Managers and Advanced Practitioners, regular supervision, good peer support and a buddy system to support you. We offer staff development through a range of training/support methods.

Social Worker / Occupational Therapist: Recruitment ‘Meet & Greet’ Event
We are holding an informal event on Tuesday 12th September from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm for candidates to meet our team managers, social workers and occupational therapists to discuss the roles and ask questions. Find out about how Walsall Council is investing in Adult Social Care and how these positions enable progression to a Senior Practitioner role for the right candidates.  The venue is Forest Arts Centre, Hawbush Road, Walsall WS3 1AG. Candidates are invited to ‘drop-in’ at any time between 10.00 am and 1.00 pm. Appointments are not necessary.
