Fixed Term Contract for 12 months

Grade 4 - £32,076 - £39,186 Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review

Working 36.5 hours per week

This is an exciting time for Birmingham Adult Education Service (BAES) and its journey towards becoming an outstanding provider of adult and community education.   

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Learning Support Manager (LSM) to join our very successful team as soon as possible. The LSM will be part of the Learner Services team, supporting adult learners in obtaining the best support to help them achieve their full potential. 

The LSM will have the responsibility of overseeing additional learning support, including coordinating access arrangements and conducting screening assessments to ensure appropriate support is in place for learners. They will manage the deployment of Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) for initial assessments and induction sessions, as well as recruit, appoint and manage the LSA team. The LSM will lead the induction, training, and professional development of LSAs, ensuring high performance through appraisals, mentoring and performance management. Additionally, the LSM will ensure all learning support aligns with both internal policies and external quality frameworks, such as Ofsted and Matrix standards. A key part of the role includes monitoring the impact of learning support on learner outcomes, such as attendance, retention, and achievement, while also acting as a Safeguarding Officer to ensure the safety and well-being of all learners.

BAES has nine main centres, and the LSM will be involved in working across some of these centres.
