Assistant Technical Officer
Warwickshire Trading Standards, Calibration Services is a small team who offer a wide range of calibration and metrological services which are UKAS accredited in certain fields.
The Service delivers an independent and confidential service with full tractability to National Standards
The team calibrates hydrocarbon flow meters,weights and poises,volumetric and gravimetric vessels, and water meters. We also offer weight hire.
The Service is centrally located in a purpose built office in the outskirts of Warwick, with easy access to the motorway network, and free parking. The post benefits from flexible working hours.
37.0 Hours per Week
The person will assist in calibration tests on bulk flow meters, mass and other equipment, to set standards and within set timescales. The assistant would develop knowledge and expertise in the field of calibration through appropriate learning and development
The assistant would also maintain laboratory equipment as directed, ensuring it is in good working order, correctly log equipment for calibration and keep accurate records of tests in manual and electronic format.
The assistant would also operate the public weighbridge, respond to enquiries from customers, and assist Trading Standard Officers with statutory metrology functions
The person needs to carry out routine tasks reliably, without supervision, follow instructions and processes methodically, systematically and to record data and results accurately. As a trading service you will need to work under pressure including meeting deadlines, process good customer service skills and work as part of a dedicated team. The role will require the ability to lift , move and set up various pieces of calibration and metrological equipment, sometimes in challenging weather conditions. Fork lift truck experience is desirable
