Library Manager – 21st Century Information & Skills - Ref: EE05417

Salary: £28,203 - £32,164 per annum

3 FTE posts

Based in Walsall, the heart of the Black Country, this role is the professional and functional site lead for a new innovative and inspiring 21st Century Library Service. It requires an experienced and capable leader, with the ability to ‘bed in’ the Councils newly re-designed library and Information service at a local level.  You will be able to demonstrate strong business management and leadership skills.

You will be one of six Library Managers and will be responsible for the day to day delivery of your allocated site to ensure the service engages with the local community offering the highest possible standard of customer care and experience.  We want to encourage better education, training, jobs and skills and you will be expected to maintain and improve the performance of this front-line service and enhance the customer experience using the latest technologies and digital interfaces.  You will be the local face of Walsall’s Libraries.

Walsall is also investing c.£4m in the town centre Library site and this will incorporate the Local History Centre & Archive. It is planned to install an access control system at the five District Libraries and one Community Library later this year. This will offer our residents greater access to our services and you will play an active role in delivering this enhanced service.

We have recently appointed to three posts and now want three further Managers who are resilient, flexible and adaptable. You will demonstrate both a proven track record of being an excellent communicator, and be able to advocate at all levels and work successfully with internal and external partners in order to deliver the best possible outcomes from our libraries whilst maximising the use of resources.

Reporting to the District Manager you will have the support and opportunity to take the council’s Information & Library Service to the next level.

Closing date: Monday 25th September 2017

Interviews:     Tuesday 3rd October and Wednesday 4th October 2017
