“Every teacher needs to improve, not because they are not good enough, but because they can be even better.” Prof. Dylan Wiliam

Ercall Wood Academy are looking for an experienced leader with a passion for improving the quality of teaching to work collaboratively with experienced staff in a high quality and well-resourced environment in the role of Assistant Principal.

Ercall Wood Academy is a vibrant, values driven community school for students from 11– 16 years of age, proudly located with Wellington, Telford and Wrekin. Ercall Wood Academy is built in the heart of its community, and this has shaped the vision and ethos that is embedded in our successful school. Our values of Empower, Respect and Aspire are fundamental in creating a positive student culture where students can strive for both academic success and holistic development. The positive culture created within the school provides solid foundations for teachers’ daily practice and acts as a mantra for our students’ lives within their school.

Since opening, the school has established a culture of success creating young adults that are well respected within our society. Our most recent results have seen us placed us as the most successful school within the Learning Community Trust in respect of Progress 8. This is a reflection of the systems, routines and high quality of education that are established within Ercall Wood Academy. We are a driven school and recognise the need to keep moving forwards to provide our young people with the best education and life experiences.

We are looking for an Assistant Principal to join our Senior leadership team to continue to drive whole school standards to ensure that the school environment supports teachers in delivering evidence informed strategies that will continue to ensure the success of our students.

As Assistant Principal for Quality of Education, you will excel as a strategic leader, and in the classroom - but, just as importantly, you will be instrumental in supporting colleagues across all roles to enhance their effectiveness, through mentoring, coaching, professional development and challenge.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced and outstanding leader with a track record of success. We need someone with middle leadership or senior leadership experience who can walk the walk and be a beacon of excellent practice, whilst possessing the muscularity of intellect and professional credibility to drive up standards across the academy.

Please provide a covering letter (Maximum of two sides of A4 paper) with your application outlining your expertise, knowledge and experience regarding your suitability for the post.

Please contact amy.goodall2@lct.education should you wish to speak to the Principal for further details.

Closing date for applications: Friday 29th November 2024 @ 12 noon
Interview: Tuesday 10th December 2024
