Simon Foster, Police and Crime Commissioner for the West Midlands is seeking to appoint a Victims Advocate to join his Accountability and Governance Board.
The Commissioner is responsible for ensuring that the 2.9 million people of the West Midlands are served by an efficient and effective police force. West Midlands Police is one of the largest police services in the country, with a budget of £655m and more than 7000 police officers and 4,000 police staff headed by the Chief Constable, Craig Guildford.
The Commissioner is looking for a Victims Advocate to support his work, and to be a member of the Accountability and Governance Board. The Victims Advocate will be someone who has extensive leadership experience across multi-agency partnerships working on behalf of victims, and will be someone who has a clear record of being influential at a senior leadership level (both local and national), leading on the design and delivery of change, and influencing the way in which victim’s services are delivered. The Victims Advocate will have deep personal knowledge and commitment to delivering policy change for victims, and will have the drive and confidence necessary to influence senior leaders across a range of partner organisations.
The Victims Advocate will work alongside the Commissioner to support him in the delivery of his statutory and other responsibilities, with a focus on Victims.
The Victims Advocate role is offered on the basis of a contract for services. The contract will be offered for a 12-month period (with potential to renew).
