Salary: G10: £43,693 to £48,710 per annum
Contract: Permanent
Working pattern: 37 hours a week 5 days a week

Main Purpose:

As a Senior Housing and Welfare Officer, you will play a vital role in helping front-line staff support residents, monitoring service performance, and driving continuous improvement within our organisation. Your specialised knowledge in Parts 6 and 7 of the Housing Act 1996 will be crucial for providing complex technical advice to staff and ensuring residents facing homelessness receive the help they need. Your expertise in housing management, income maximisation, and money management will also be highly valuable.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Empower Front-Line Staff: Provide expert guidance and support to staff, helping them assist residents effectively and efficiently.
  • Monitor and Improve Services: Use data and flow analysis to understand customer demand, identify system inefficiencies, and implement improvements.
  • Support Training and Development: Identify training needs, design and deliver training programs, and support staff development.
  • Complex Casework: Take responsibility for complex casework, completing reports, reviews, and attending multi-agency meetings.

  • Experienced: You have a deep understanding of relevant legislation, regulations, and best practices, particularly Parts 6 and 7 of the Housing Act 1996.
  • Passionate: You are dedicated to helping customers and ensuring they receive the support they need, especially those facing homelessness.
  • Analytical: You can use data to drive decision-making and improve service delivery.
  • Collaborative: You excel at working with others, both within your team and across the organisation.

Our team’s core hours are as follows:

• Monday to Thursday 8.45am to 5.15pm

• Friday 8.45am to 4.45pm

• Work outside core hours will be inevitable from time to time.

Shortlisting for the Senior Housing and Welfare post will take place in mid-December 2024. Interviews will be scheduled for January 2025.

This post is covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers. The post holder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English.

For this role the successful candidate must undergo a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check. BPSS is the minimum standard to ensure the identify and integrity of an employee who has access to official information using secure networks linking central governments and local authorities. A BPSS check involves four main elements; Identity Check, National and Immigration Status, Employment History (last 3 years) and Verification of Criminal Record (unspent convictions only).
