Pensions Assistants 

Salary - £25,584 - £27,269

Contract - Full Time (Hybrid) 

Do you have good mathematical, communications and technical skills and are looking to develop in the pension industry? Are you looking to work for one of the largest LGPS funds in the UK? We may have the role for you!

We are seeking highly organised and flexible full-time Pensions Assistants. 

These positions are based in the Benefit Operations team, where all activity is managed against a set of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s). 

West Midlands Pension Fund is recruiting for Pension Assistants to join our continually growing Operations Service area. Our brand-new offices are based at the i9 building in Wolverhampton, the West Midlands Pension Fund is an excellent location for transport links by car, bus, train and tram. 

We have a modern office environment that offers a relaxed working atmosphere with study and breakout areas, meeting rooms and kitchens with free tea and coffee making facilities. There are also cloakrooms, bike stores, showers and lockers available.

What the day will look like

responsibilities include: 

  • Calculation of members pension benefits including Retirements, Refunds, Deferments, Transfers and associated processes.
  • Working to set targets and ensuring achievement of key performance indicators for the team
  • Supporting the day to day management of the teams workload ensuring priority cases are reviewed and actioned promptly. 
  • Processing and validating all amendments to a member’s record that result from changes in employment and personal circumstances. 
  • Providing a comprehensive and responsive service to employers in regard to data queries and outstanding data

Our working arrangements

All council roles are allocated to either a fixed, field or flexible work style. Some roles are agile which enable and empowers employees to maximise their performance and productivity, whilst maintaining a healthy work life balance.  Roles with a fixed workstyle work in a fixed permanent council location.  Roles with a field workstyle are usually allocation where employees are required to be out working in the community with a minimum requirement for 'touch down' space at any council location.  Roles with a flexible workstyle have a flexible base location to meet the needs of the business and employees can work from a mixture of home or any council office, partner/client, or external location, as required to meet service requirements.
