About the role:
A Speech, Language and Communication Mentor plays a crucial role in supporting students with communication difficulties. Working under the supervision of a qualified Speech, Language and Communication Therapist, to implement and deliver therapy plans and interventions. Speech, Language and Communication Mentors assist in the assessment process by gathering information about the students’ communication skills and needs, helping to deliver speech and language therapy activities and exercises as directed by the therapist. We can support with training for the right candidate.

The successful candidate will;
- have the ability to manage, support, and engage students, fostering a positive learning environment
- have knowledge and skills to support the wellbeing and educational needs of young people with special educational needs (SEN)
- be proficient in conveying information clearly and effectively to students, ensuring they understand concepts and instructions
- have the ability to develop appropriate and trusting relationships with both students and colleagues, enhancing collaboration and support
- show sensitivity in listening to students' situations, demonstrating empathy, and using effective communication to facilitate problem-solving
- • have caring and understanding demeanour, paired with a calm and assertive approach to managing situations.
- display skills in anticipating potential barriers to success and proactively implementing strategies to prevent them

This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016). Therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
