Specialist Outreach Teaching Assistant
Following on from the Speech and Language Centre's successful Pilot Outreach programme , a new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist SLCN Outreach Teaching Assistant to work alongside the Centre Manager and Specialist Outreach Teacher to extend the programme to mainstream primary and early years settings.
Hours: 22.5 term time only 39 weeks
Salary: Grade 5 SCP 18 to 21 £15,529 to £17,306 + SEN allowance £1,443 (pro rata)
Location: Speech and Language Centre based at Quarry bank Primary School
The successful candidate will require significant experience of working with children with speech, language and communication difficulties as well as detailed knowledge of the EYFS/KS1 curriculums.
The role will be working with pupils who have complex SLCN in a mainstream or early years setting, delivering programmes that include specialist assessment, teaching and therapy in order to develop their English and mathematical skills and social and emotional well-being.
The Specialist Teaching Assistant should be an excellent classroom practitioner able to model best practice and strategies as well as giving advice to staff in mainstream settings. The successful candidate will need to be patient, calm, a good communicator, confident in working in a variety of settings and with external agencies and parents and who is excellent at problem solving with a 'can do' approach.
