Teaching Assistant (TA2) - 27.5 hours

Fixed Term to support in Year One until 21st July 2025

27.5 hours a week Monday to Friday

The post holder will be required to work from 8.45 till 15.15

Salary Scale: TA2 Band F (7-11) – Pro-rata £16, 283 - £17, 355

The Role

St Nicholas C of E Primary School is seeking to employ a part time Teaching Assistant to join its
enthusiastic and dedicated team in Year 1. The individual taking on this role will need to be highly
motivated, calm, patient and able to adapt quickly to different situations.

Relevant experience and appropriate qualifications such as NVQ level 2 are essential. Previous
experience of supporting children in KS1 would be an advantage

Key Requirements

• Hold a recognised and relevant NVQ level 2 qualification and have undertaken other appropriate
training (preferably leading to national standards at NVQ level 3) or be able to demonstrate
equivalent knowledge, experience and skills.
• Minimum GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths at grades A-C
• Have good communication and listening skills and be able to present information verbally and in
writing to others.
• Have experience of TA work.
• Understand special educational needs and have previous experience working with children with
additional needs and/or pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities in a primary school;
• Have attended further training on aspects of the curriculum or areas of specific special need.
• Have good level of knowledge and understanding of at least one area of learning (eg English, maths,
science).
• Understand school’s policies and how they relate to local and national frameworks/policies (eg child
protection, health and safety, equal opportunities, SEN).
• Can use ICT effectively to support learning and use other technology equipment.
• Can plan own work when required.
• Can transfer theory/training into practice.
• Can solve problems and can exercise initiative and independent action.
• Is pro-active in offering ideas.
