Post Title: Community Engagement Officer

Responsible to: Chief Officer

Location: The Old Library Centre, Droitwich Spa, WR9 8QS

Hours: Negotiable up to 25 hours per week.

Salary: £26,520.00 per annum for 37.5 hours. Pro-rata £17,680.00 for 25 hours.

Pension: Auto Enrolment Scheme available if eligible.

Holiday Entitlement: 25 days + statutory bank holidays (pro-rated depending on hours worked).   

Job Purpose: To provide quality signposting to residents with personal, social, emotional and financial issues. These include low mood, anxiety and stress, social isolation, money and poverty issues, and bereavement. Work to address health inequalities created by deprivation, protected characteristics, geography and demographics.

To support people to live well through strengthening connections between community resources, Health & Social care providers and statutory services. To help reduce demand on these services while signposting people to the appropriate support within the community. 

Being the trusted point of contact where people can access information and support to improve health and wellbeing outcomes. 

 Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To build and maintain positive working relationships with other organisations within the voluntary and community sector, health and social care, ensuring that Droitwich CVS can signpost people to the most suitable source of information and to the next steps open to them.
  • To deal with any enquiry from the public or professionals who require information on local services and activities. People are signposted to the appropriate organisations and activities and that they understand any steps that they may need to take next. Support with or facilitate access to information for people who may have barriers in finding or using information about services.   Escalating any urgent, emergency or safeguarding issues to the appropriate authorities and partners.
  • Effectively listening to and recording people’s often difficult experiences of accessing support. Undertaking outreach activities including presentations and visits to local groups and organisations. Supporting any asset based development with local residents. Networking and creating opportunities to promote the service. Ensuring that promotional materials are effectively displayed at key outreach points. Liaising with other members of the Droitwich CVS team to ensure that information and insights gathered are shared appropriately to further our wider role.

General:

  • To assist Droitwich CVS staff and volunteers to deliver other services and projects on a regular basis. To deal with any volunteering enquiry from a resident or local charity.  Work with the team to promote the volunteering opportunities.
  • To ensure that all data and information collected is properly recorded having due regard to Droitwich CVS policies such as data protection and confidentiality.
  • Provide support and take an active role in working towards the wider aims and objectives of the organisation and the development of new services.

Undertake professional development/training to meet developing requirements and to maintain necessary skills and knowledge to carry out the duties as specified. Flexible hours will be necessary to allow for occasional evening or weekend meetings and to cover for staff and volunteer absence. To undertake any other agreed duties deemed appropriate by the Chief Officer and/or the Board of Trustees.
