Are you passionate about making a difference in young lives? Join our team as a Learning Mentor at Charter Academy

We are looking for a dedicated, empathetic Learning Mentor to support and inspire students in a highly deprived primary school setting. This is a unique opportunity to work with children facing social, emotional, and behaviour challenges, helping them to unlock their full potential and thrive in school.

As a Learning Mentor, you will work closely with pupils on a one-to-one and small group basis, providing tailored support to improve their confidence, engagement, and emotional well-being. You’ll also collaborate with teachers, families, and external agencies to create a nurturing environment that encourages positive behaviour and learning.

We are a forward-thinking school and we are passionate about making a difference to the lives of our children; they are at the heart of everything we do.  You would be joining an enthusiastic team focused on providing great opportunities for learning for all our pupils.

Charter Academy has a great deal to be proud of.  We are a growing primary school with an excellent Ofsted rating (March 2024).  We excel in the area of Oracy and have recently earned the accreditation of a Voice 21 School of Excellence.  We have excellent premises which enable us to provide an outstanding personal development curriculum, including Forest School and after school sports clubs. Both our pupils and staff are motivated to work and are excited by opportunities available to them and make everybody feel exceptionally welcome.  Our staff CPD is recognised as a strength of the school.  We offer a range of benefits which includes private health membership; cycle to work; free parking; an employee discount scheme and a commitment to staff wellbeing and recognition initiatives through our wellbeing committee and people strategy.

We are looking for someone who: -

Resilient, compassionate, and committed to making a positive impact in a high-need area. You will bring strong communication skills, a collaborative spirit, and a genuine passion for helping young people overcome obstacles. Experience in education, mentoring, or youth work is preferred, along with a willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic and thriving school environment.

We can offer: -

  • Hard working colleagues and well-trained support staff who are passionate about what they do
  • Pupils who are excited about learning new things
  • A supportive trust who are committed to helping the school move forwards
  • A strong commitment to staff wellbeing and recognition, through the trusts’ people strategy, and a range of benefits which include the provision of the pension scheme, cycle to work scheme, an employee discount scheme and a commitment to developing the use of new technologies to support learning and streamline workload.

The Trust is committed to invest in and develop all staff and, most importantly, bring about the best possible outcomes for our students who deserve the very best.  Our Trust values are really important to all of us and include Respect to All, From All, Innovation and Collaboration.

We are excited about our future – we would love to hear from you if you think you could be part of creating that future.

We would welcome visitors to the setting or can arrange a telephone conversation to find out more through an informal discussion with the Headteacher, Mrs Louise Stewart.  Please email the school to book your visit.
