Required for January 2025, Kitchen Assistant to work in busy school kitchen.

10 hours per week. 12:15pm -  2:15pm Monday to Friday

Codsall Middle School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, experienced and highly motivated Kitchen Assistant to join our wonderful catering team. 

We encourage applications from anyone who has experience of working in a busy kitchen. The ideal candidate will be able to enhance the school’s lunch times and assist the Catering coordinator with ensuring pupils receive a nutritious, good-quality lunch in line with government guidelines in a timely manner. 

We are looking for someone who will build an excellent rapport with children and staff alike. You must be able to work well as part of a team within the kitchen and beyond to establish a supportive and nurturing environment in which children are valued and cared for.

As a Kitchen Assistant, your main role will be to assist the catering Co-ordinator in our 5 Star hygiene rated kitchen. You will ensure that a high quality, child focused catering service is delivered to all our children.  In addition to providing the service on a day-to-day basis, you will be involved in providing 'theme days' such as Chinese New Year, Red Nose Day, Children in Need and other events to promote and develop our school values and initiatives.

Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 – the successful applicant will be required to apply for an enhanced DBS certificate. As the post will involve regulated activity with children, it is a criminal offence to apply for this post if you are included on the children’s barred list held by the DBS. Amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975 (2013 & 2020) provide that certain spent convictions and cautions are 'protected'. These are not subject to disclosure to employers and cannot be taken into account. Guidance and criteria on the filtering of these cautions and convictions can be found on the Ministry of Justice website.

Shortlisted candidates will be asked to provide details of all unspent convictions and those that would not be filtered, prior to the date of the interview. You may be asked for further information about your criminal history during the recruitment process.
