Trustees are looking for a dynamic, and adaptable Play Leader to join Ryders Hayes After School Club, (Knight Ryders), across EYFS - Year 6. The successful candidate should have experience of working in this capacity.

The Play Leader will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering engaging and age-appropriate activities (Reception - Year 6) for children attending the after-school provision.
This role requires strong leadership skills, as the Play Leader will oversee and guide a team of Play Workers, ensuring the provision runs smoothly and effectively.
Key responsibilities include designing a diverse range of activities that promote creativity, physical fitness, teamwork, and social skills, while catering to the varied interests and abilities of all children. The Play Leader will also be tasked with maintaining a safe and inclusive environment by adhering to health and safety standards, safeguarding policies, and behaviour management strategies.
Additionally, this role involves monitoring and evaluating the provision's success, collecting feedback from children and parents, and implementing improvements to ensure high levels of engagement and satisfaction, with the support of the line manager. The Play Leader will also liaise with parents and carers, providing updates on their children’s participation and addressing any concerns or suggestions.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills, a passion for working with children, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. They should possess relevant qualifications in childcare or playwork and experience in leading activities or teams in a similar setting.
By fostering a positive, enjoyable, and enriching atmosphere, the Play Leader will play a pivotal role in supporting the social, emotional, and physical development of children attending the program.
Key Responsibilities
- Activity Planning: Develop and implement a variety of age-appropriate activities that promote creativity, physical activity, and learning.
- Supervision: Ensure the safety and well-being of all children, monitoring their behaviour and providing appropriate supervision during activities.
- Support Learning and Development: Encourage positive social interactions, teamwork, and personal development among children.
- Health & Safety: Conduct regular safety checks and ensure that all health and safety guidelines are followed. Administer basic first aid as necessary.
- Communication: Establish effective communication with children, parents/guardians, and school staff. Provide feedback to parents/guardians on children's participation and progress.
- Behaviour Management: Maintain a calm, supportive environment and handle any behavioural issues according to school policies.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate attendance records, incident reports, and other relevant documentation.
- Set-Up & Clean-Up: Prepare the space and materials for activities and ensure the environment is tidy and safe at the end of each session.
This job description has been prepared for the purpose of the Multi Academy Trust organisation and may change through consultation as the role and the needs of the MAT develop and evolve. The post-holder will be expected to carry out any reasonable request from the Head of School.
