Foster Carer (Self Employed)
Make a Difference, Foster for Warwickshire.
Are you looking for a new challenge where you can make a real difference to a child’s life ?
Currently in Warwickshire we need more foster carers but we have a particular need for carers for older children, brothers and sisters and short breaks carers for children with a disability and other specialist schemes which are advertised separately. Could this be the new challenge you are looking for ?
The type of fostering you could provide depends on you, your lifestyle and the needs of your own family.
As a Warwickshire County Council Foster Carer, you would care for a child / children or young person in your own home creating a stable positive home environment.
Foster Carers undertaking the ‘usual’ parenting and care appropriate to each child or young person such as taking them to school, supporting contact with family members, visiting friends as well as attending a number of meetings and advocating for the child where needed. Foster carers need to work alongside the child’s social worker and other professionals to assess and support the child’s needs and to plan for their long-term. A key role of a foster carer to provide stability and consistency to help the child or young person develop and reach their potential.
Currently households who are happy to care for young people aged 13+ and households where one foster carer is at home full time can access our skill level one payment from approval when a child or young person is in placement (£126.96 per year per child). Those who do not meet these criteria can work towards sill level one in their first year of fostering. Progress is available to skill level two £209.08 usually after around 18 months of fostering.
