You will provide interpreting services for d/Deaf learners in a college for young adults with a range of disabilities, enabling them to access their course and to interact meaningfully with academic staff and peers. Your interpreting role will extend across college life and as part of a team you will work with professionalism and flexibility to aid participation in educational, social and employment opportunities for the learner.
- Contract Type: Fixed Term Until July 2025
- Hours: 30 hours per week/ 39 weeks per year/ Term Time/ 6.2 weeks holiday
Salary: Pay point 34 to 38
Full time Salary: £31,173.35 to £34,551.78

Key Responsibilities
- To provide interpreting services as required including front of class interpreting during teaching
- To work closely with the assigned Communication Support Worker to ensure allocated student is able to reach their potential through education providing a high quality inclusive working environment
- Supporting the d/Deaf learners outside of the classroom (assignment work, breaks etc) and extracurricular activities, such as educational trips or work experience
- Work with the tutor to create effective lesson plans , evaluating and adjusting lessons/work plans where necessary
- To raise awareness with staff and students of factors which may adversely affect the quality of communication available to D/deaf students.as appropriate
- Building glossaries of technical language for d/Deaf students
- Promoting equality and integration of d/Deaf students
- Communicate appropriate information to other staff including managers and course tutors
- Undertake record keeping and other administrative tasks, ensuring the confidential nature of the work is considered as required
- When not interpreting to be able to support in the general education process of d/Deaf learners
- Provide Learning Support to non-deaf students when the d/Deaf learner that you have been assigned to does not require your support
- To attend, where possible, meetings and report on the progress of supported students
- To support with auditory equipment as required.

- Attend and participate in regular meetings/ annual review meetings
- Participate mandatory training and other learning activities as required
- Contribute to, and follow, behaviour support strategies in place, liaising with appropriate student support colleagues as directed and attending relevant behaviour training updates as part of CPD
- Maintaining a safe and orderly working environment
- Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
- You will be expected to work with the learner in all college locations and off-site locations as required by their course
QAC complies with Safeguarding guidelines and all appointees are required to have DBS Check and two reference
