Job Details
To provide strategic leadership and management of the Association of Directors of Public Health West Midlands (ADPH WM), to ensure;
- it maintains and builds its excellent reputation as an influential regional professional body within the West Midlands Public Health system.
- fostering of a deeper culture of partnership working between ADPH WM and senior regional stakeholders, ensuring a system-wide collaborative approach through the West Midlands Public Health Alliance, which supports local delivery on health outcomes.
- accountable for leading, managing, planning for impact and monitoring the ADPH WM and WM Alliance quality improvement agendas.
- robust programme management systems and governance structures are in place.
- Can build on portfolios of work across the region using Public Health knowledge and expertise,
- The post holder will hold their own portfolio of work including, Tobacco control, Sector led improvement and others as agreed across the time in post
- Develop trusting relationships with individual DsPH, and an understanding of their expertise and energies, aligning these with the needs and opportunities of ADPH WM and the WM PH Alliance.
- To be the accountable lead for deepening a culture of effective relationships for collaborative improvement with key stakeholders, including OHID, UKHSA, NHSE, DCS, ADASS WM, ADPH National, the Faculty, academia, the LGA and CA.
- Responsible for working with the Directors of Public Health in the WM to identify priority areas for review and quality improvement, using agreed prioritisation tools.
- To lead the development of and accountable for monitoring a three-year quality improvement strategy for the WM PH Alliance with ambitious outcomes, based on a strong understanding of emerging policy, priorities and outlining future collaborations across the WM Public Health Alliance. This includes WM Councils, Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID) and the UK Heath Security Agency (UKHSA)), NHS E and other key partners.
- To oversee the development of a Communication and Advocacy Strategy to raise the profile of ADPH WM/ WM PH Alliance and the importance of public health and health inequalities.
- To be accountable and responsible for the effective monitoring and reporting of all aspects of the programme to ADPH WM/ WM PH Alliance and ADPH UK (as required) to ensure probity and transparency in the use of public funds
Essential requirements.
- Track record of strong relationship building, advocacy and influencing with internal and external senior stakeholders.
- Significant experience of designing, leading and managing complex work programmes, within budget and time constraints, and which lead to improved outcomes.
- Significant experience and understanding of regional working including how to maximise systems for population health gains.
Registration
- All applicants must be registered with the UKPHR via the specialist training route or be within six months of registration at the date of the interview. Applicants must provide proof (letter of confirmation from their TPD or the CCT) at interview.
- Applicants that are non-UK trained, will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT.
