Monday to Friday:  8.30am to 3.45pm - Monday to Friday

Term Time Only – Permanent

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young learners?  We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Attendance Officer to join our team at The Federation of Abbey Infant and Junior School.

Job Summary:

  • Work collaboratively with the school and external agencies to reduce persistent absence and improve school attendance and punctuality.
  • Challenge and support families to ensure regular school attendance and punctuality.
  • Liaise with the Local Authority Attendance Support Service to provide evidence for legal action when necessary.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve attendance and punctuality, targeting specific pupils and families.
  • Conduct first day calling/messaging for absent pupils and engage with parents to foster positive relationships.
  • Communicate legal responsibilities and consequences of non-attendance to the school community.
  • Make home visits, both regular and unannounced, to address attendance issues.
  • Maintain accurate case records and take necessary action in cases of non-compliance or persistent absence.
  • Collaborate with school leadership and external partners to support attendance improvement efforts.
  • Analyse attendance data and contribute to the development of support groups for parents and pupils
  • Play a crucial role in improving attendance and supporting the academic success of our pupils.

The Federation of Abbey Infant and Junior School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable groups including children, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  An enhanced DBS clearance and satisfactory references are therefore required for this role.  This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.  Pre-employment checks will be carried out in line with KCSIE.

Hours: 30 hours per week 8.30am – 3.45pm – Monday to Friday - Standard term time.
