About the Team and the Role
Warwickshire County Council (WCC) are seeking an ambitious and motivated individual to join our thriving Finance function and help support the Council through an exciting and challenging period of change. You will be joining a Finance team that has been nominated twice in the last three years in the prestigious Public Finance Awards ‘Public Sector Finance Team of the Year’ category. Finance is at the heart of everything we do at WCC and we want you to play a pivotal role in enhancing this offering.
The Finance Projects team within the Finance function has a vision to “work collaboratively to enable, inspire and assure brilliant and responsible decision making to deliver optimum impact for Warwickshire”. The team have identified and delivered a number of projects over recent years including the migration of the ERP to the Cloud, implementation of new invoice scanning technology, supporting new funding schemes to support the Council’s climate change aspirations and exploring the use of automation and AI in financial services, amongst many other.
Similarly, the Finance Systems team are responsible for maintaining and developing our key financial systems, including our Unit4 Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tool. Over the last 24 months we have moved our ERP to the Cloud and have developed new forecasting and data reporting tools, but we are keen to further maximise the use of our ERP and utilise its functionality to support improved decision making.
We are looking for a Finance Projects and Systems Service Manager to lead these two teams and help the Council in delivering against its Council Plan and associated Strategic Priorities. You will need the right balance between technical accountancy expertise, alongside an ability to engage and build relationships at all levels of the organisation and with external stakeholders. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a proactive attitude and a desire to lead and deliver transformative change, with a focus on embracing new technologies to improve processes.
If this sounds like you and the challenge you’ve been looking for, we’d welcome a conversation!
