The Director of Highways role at Warwickshire County Council brings together our Engineering Design Services and County Highways functions and you will take a lead role in highways scheme design and delivery; the operation of the Highways Maintenance Contract; managing the highways network for our residents, businesses, and visitors to the county; and delivery of the member delegated budgets scheme.

Key responsibilities / What we’re looking for

As a strong, inspiring, and ambitious leader, you will have the ability to develop and maintain high performing teams and shape and direct the work of your service to deliver our priority outcomes. You will have direct operational responsibility over a range of service areas including Network Management; Streetlighting; Forestry; Minor Works; Highways Capital; Highways Section 278; Bridges & Structural Design; and Traffic Control & Information Systems.

You will lead on relevant project and programme boards relating to key highways projects and activities, and develop and maintain strong relationships with other teams, partners, and stakeholders. Through an understanding of the inter-connectivity of your work across the Council, you will strive to work collaboratively with other services to support the wider delivery of Warwickshire County Council’s objectives.
