Do you enjoy working outdoors and working in a team?
Do you have an interest in gardening would you like to work in one of our parks, are you a keen gardener who knows their roses from their daisies, can you spot a weed in a shrub bed, mow a lawn or cut a hedge?
Worcester City Council is looking for a dedicated team player to support the Parks team with ground works and cleansing duties, keeping the public and the park green, safe and secure, can you confidently talk to park users about flowers in the shrub beds or supply local knowledge of the park areas when asked.
Your duties are working in the parks as a team of four operatives, looking after the parks maintenance including emptying bins and litter picking, mowing, maintaining flower beds, hedge cutting, and keeping paths clean and tidy, During Summer opening times for Gheluvelt park you will also be responsible for the maintenance of the splash pad, testing water quality to ensure the safety of bathers, full training will be given to ensure you are competent and confident to carry out your duties.
The ideal candidate would be someone with a horticultural diploma and great gardening knowledge, but the most important thing is a keenness to work hard and learn.
Please be aware you will be working to a split rota to cover park maintenance on weekends you will work one in four weekends all year round, during the summer your working times may change to cover the splash pad operation times, however you will be entitled to an enhancement to your pay for working the Sunday and you will get two days off in the week, you will be doing normal 37 hour week, rota etc to be discussed at interview.
