Job Details
Salary: G4 Pro-Rata - £6,296 to £6,817 actual salary per annum
Contract: Basic Hours Contract (9.25 Hours) plus extra hours depending on availability of work
Highways, Transport and Operations are seeking to recruit Waste Collections Operatives to work within our Waste and Street Cleansing services.
Our teams work borough wide and across multiple waste types including residual waste, recycling, garden waste and trade waste. Being familiar with Walsall and experience in the industry, along with a knowledge in any of these disciplines will be an advantage to applicants.
We are seeking individuals who can accommodate the physical demands relating to the services we deliver and think they can help us provide a key service to the public of Walsall.
The role requires applicants to have an understanding of, and the ability to provide high quality customer service. The role can also lead to further internal opportunities for full time employment and roles.

Hours of work:
A guarantee of 9.25 hours (1 day) per week with a possible maximum of 37 hours (4 days) dependent on the availability of work. Hours worked on top of the basic 9.25 are considered overtime and paid at standard rate up to the maximum of 37 hours.
Applicants are required to work in accordance with local arrangements across clean and green operations. Annualised hour contract with annual leave commitments calculated in hours and issued pro-rata.
Our collection crews start shift at 06:15 and end shift at 16:15, with a 45 minute break during the day.
This post is covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers. The post holder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English.
