Board Chair at Solihull Community Housing

Location: Solihull, West Midlands

Time commitment: 2-3 days a month

Remuneration: £9,546.76 per annum

Closing Date: 10:00 am, Monday 10 February 2025

We are seeking a dynamic communicator and customer focused strategic thinker to join SCH as our Board Chair.

Solihull Community Housing is a housing provider with ambition and commitment to great housing services. We are refreshing our strategic vision and as our current Chair steps down at the end of his term, we are seeking a strategic thinker to join us as Chair and lead us into our next chapter. We are a well-established and well performing ALMO managing almost 10,000 council properties on behalf of Solihull Council with a mixed portfolio of stock including high and low rise. We enjoy a good collaborative relationship with Solihull Council, and we are currently reviewing our joint governance arrangements to ensure they are fit for purpose to meet the changing social housing landscape. Our incoming Chair will play a key role in shaping and leading our Board through this exciting period of change.

Our team of 300 dedicated colleagues strive to deliver excellent housing services as well as working with our partners to support our communities to thrive. Customers are at the heart of all that we deliver and play a real part in our decision making as we continue to improve and broaden our services to create better homes and thriving neighbourhoods.

We not only manage homes, we also build them. We were pleased to hand over keys to 25 families in December 2024 to their newly built energy efficient homes at Kinghurst Village Centre. Eventually there will be 70 new homes built and managed by SCH as part of a much wider regeneration scheme of Kinghurst including a health and wellbeing hub delivered through a partnership with Solihull Council.

As the current Chair steps down at the end of his term, we are seeking an experienced and passionate individual to lead the organisation through its next chapter.

You will bring inclusive leadership to the Board and a demonstrable track record of collaboration. A strong communicator who is clear and persuasive and able to relate and listen to others. You will be customer focused and have proven senior leadership experience within the field of social housing and an understanding of the opportunities and challenges SCH faces, along with an excellent understanding of governance.

SCH embraces inclusivity and encourages applications from individuals of all backgrounds who share our dedication to making a difference in Solihull’s communities.

If you’re passionate about the impact of social housing and eager to shape a brighter future for the communities of Solihull, we’d like to hear from you.

First interview (virtual): 21 or 24 February 2025

Final interview: 13 March 2025 held in person at Endeavour House, Meriden Drive, Solihull, B37 6BX.
