We are currently recruiting for an Independent living Officer to deliver a quality housing management service to customers living in independent living schemes, through on site management and supervision, to ensure tenancies are sustained.
You will be responsible for ensuring the health and safety of buildings is maintained, potential risks are minimised, and the environment is safe and secure.
You will work as part of a team to provide excellent services to customers in accordance with legal requirements and relevant policies and procedures
The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting tenants in maintaining their tenancies. Ensure the safety of customers by complying with procedures and carry out regular checks and tests in respect of health and safety, fire prevention, and security. Undertake regular inspections of the building and associated grounds to maintain the safety and security of customers and to ensure that buildings and facilities are safe and available for use. Be responsible for the safety and security of communal areas within Independent Living schemes and the equipment therein. Report and monitor the completion of repairs to customers’ properties, communal facilities and communal areas of buildings. Carry out accompanied viewings of empty properties, and liaising closely with the Tenancy Services Team and carry out post tenancy visits. Ensure that safeguarding of vulnerable adult’s policies and procedures are followed and report any issues to management. Identify customers who need support or care and complete referrals as appropriate. Ensure that the Council’s policies – including but not limited to Equality & Diversity, Health & Safety and Customer Service – are complied with through all activities; and that all work is undertaken in accordance with the relevant codes of practice and legislation.
The successful applicant will have experience of working in sheltered housing or a social care environment in a customer facing role and have sensitivity and understanding of the needs of older people and the potential risks of ageing in terms of mental and physical frailty.
Experience of identifying safeguarding issues, reporting, and referring to appropriate agencies. Have good interpersonal skills and ability to engage with people from diverse backgrounds.
Knowledge of the support needs of older persons and the role of other agencies in meeting these and have proven ability to plan a diverse workload and schedule tasks with limited supervision.
You will be required to efficiently use time and complete tasks/projects on time through routine planning of own work and organisational resources.
Keeps appropriate people informed of progress on tasks/projects
Be a good listener, able to emphasise with others and communicate effectively in all forms.
Responds to queries and complaints in a timely manner
Full driving licence and access to a motor vehicle
Must have excellent IT skills including a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
Demonstrate the ability to work flexibly and on own initiative
