Applications are being invited for the following posts
1 x CATE Practitioner and Missing coordinator where your duties and time will be split in respect of working part time as a CATE Practitioner and Part time as a Missing coordinator
1 x CATE Practitioner
To work within the CATE Team supporting Young People and their Families who are at risk of Child Exploitation, this will include Child Sexual Exploitation and Child Criminal Exploitation.
Both roles will require a good knowledge and understanding of Child Exploitation and the impact of this upon children, young people and their families; experience of engaging with young people, alongside a clear understanding of safeguarding procedures, and multi-agency working skills to enable Partnership working to reduce the risk posed of ongoing exploitation.
It will also be a requirement to have a good knowledge of Telford and Wrekin Council’s missing procedures and supporting practitioners to implement them effectively.
The CATE Practitioner will also need to understand and analyse data relating to missing children and to provide detailed reports in respect of this on a monthly basis.
The CATE Practitioner role includes:
- To undertake CE risk assessments and present these to the Risk Assessment Panel.
- To undertake Return Home Interviews for young people who return from having been missing from home.
- To plan and deliver interventions to reduce risk enabling positive outcomes for young people affected by CE.
- To ensure young people receive appropriate services to enable them to recover from CE.
- To pass information between agencies including the police to support the protection of young people and the disruption and prosecution of perpetrators.
- To deliver multi-agency CE training.
- To seek safeguarding advice from the CATE Team Manager as appropriate
- To draw to the attention of the Child Protection & Family Support (CPFS) Service Delivery Manager any difficulties or barriers identified with the CE Care & Support Pathway.
- To offer CE advice and guidance to parents and other professionals.
- To attend a variety of meetings as is considered necessary and appropriate to role.
- To assist the young person to engage with other professionals.
The role requires commitment, perseverance, creativity and an enthusiastic approach to working with Young People and Families who may be ‘hard to reach’.
