This is a fixed term post for 2 years.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, ambitious and persuasive person with strong influencing skills and an interest in driving change and developing new ways of working to lead and co-ordinate Stoke-on-Trent’s adoption of economic development through Community Wealth Building. Community Wealth Building is a people-centred approach to local economic development, which redirects wealth back into the local economy, placing control and benefits in the hands of local people.
It has developed as a response to contemporary challenges like austerity, financialisaton, sustainability and automation, which traditional economic development practices have not addressed.
In this role, you will work centrally with colleagues from across the Council to advocate the Community Wealth Building vision and support a shared institutional understanding of how to deliver positive and practical impacts of change at a community level, in support of the City’s Corporate and Economic Development Strategies.
You will also work closely with colleagues to bring specific priority initiatives to fruition.
With your understanding of Community Wealth Building and your experience of economic development and/or community development, you will be a key player in the City’s transformation at an exciting time, as we celebrate our 100th anniversary and new powers of economic development are devolved from central government to local authorities.
You will need to be able to work both as part of a team and independently, keep up to date with national developments and have excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and work to conflicting deadlines.
