John Taylor MAT is proud to be working towards the opening of the only ‘all-through’ school in our Trust family. Built from the ground up, Rugeley John Taylor will serve local communities, offering a ‘gold standard’ learning experience to the youngest learners all the way through to sixth formers. This brand-new school, opening initially with Year 7 in the secondary phase in September 2025, will incorporate many of the features of John Taylor MAT that have become a hallmark of its success.
We are commencing the search for a committed, adaptable and caring Teaching Assistant, who can provide dedicated support to a pupil with sensory and physical needs. The successful candidate will be provided with full specialist training to care for the pupil’s tracheostomy. You will work alongside the teacher to find innovative ways to ensure the pupil is given every opportunity to access learning and make progress. An AV1 Robot will also support learning when the pupil is unable to attend school and you will support the use of this technology.
Alongside the training, you will support the pupil in their current Primary School setting to build a relationship and rapport with the pupil and the family, before the child moves into Year 7 at Rugeley John Taylor in September 2025. This is a unique and special Teaching Assistant role that provides you with an opportunity to make a significant difference to a young person’s life, learning journey and school experience.
In addition to the required qualifications and experience, you could be ideal for this role if you have:
• Supported 1-1 learning in a school
• Experience of working with children with SEND and specific needs
• Good communication and interpersonal skills to be able to relate well to children
• Self-motivated and take responsibility
• Technical skills to adapt to new technology
• Can build professional relationships with colleagues, parents and other stakeholders
Above all, you must be able to demonstrate a commitment to the needs of pupils, and challenge barriers and blocks to provide an enjoyable and safe learning environment
Please see the recruitment pack for more details and the timetable for the appointment.
Completed application forms should be emailed to recruitment@jtmat.co.uk
Only fully completed application forms will be submitted for shortlisting. CVs will not be accepted.
