Due to an expansion of our Building Safety Team, we are looking for two Building Safety Operatives to help us grow and develop our service. You’ll be working alongside a close-knit, professional team who are dedicated and passionate about delivering a first class service for our customers with a focus on their safety.

 

These are new posts created to help us meet the fresh challenges of today and achieve our Corporate Priorities for the next 5 years and beyond.

 

About Us:

 

Cannock Chase Council currently manages a housing portfolio of approximately 5,100 properties. We are proud to deliver both a new build programme and a planned investment programme of over £8m to repair and improve existing housing stock in order to provide a quality service and outcome for our residents.

 

Our relativley small stock skirts the edge of the fantastic National Landscape, Cannock Chase.

 

We have recently secured funding to improve Cannock town center which will compliment the West Midlands Designer Outlet Village situated a 5 minute drive away.

 

Cannock Chase Council are committed to the climate emergency and have ambitious plans to meet Net Zero by 2030.

 

What you will be doing:

 

A typical day for you could include:

  • Undertaking ongoing monitoring and carrying out remedial works and any follow up work in relation to defects or risk actions identified from inspection regimes and work programmes for fire safety and water hygiene work streams.
  • Reporting and where possible remove risks to visitors, staff and residents such as obstructions within communal spaces.
  • Maintaining clear and accurate records on IT systems via handheld device.
  • Uploading documents relating to Building Safety, correctly saving and storing documents on the Digital Logbook.
  • Identifying repair, maintenance and estate issues across the council’s stock and estates, ensuring any necessary action is promptly undertaken.
  • Assist our Housing Maintenance Team with carrying out minor repairs.
  • Carry out the installation of minor adaptations and physical aids such as grab rails.

 

You will play a key role in helping Cannock Chase Council deliver its vision of providing safe, comfortable, affordable and sustainable homes for our customers.

 

About You:

 

We are looking for someone who has relevant knowledge and experience of working within an environment delivering planned maintenance and upgrade works, particularly if you have experience of working within the Building Safety or Construction industry. You will have GCSE's in English and Mathematics at Grade C or above (or equivalent vocational or academic experience). You will have or be willing to work towards a Level 2 qualification in Asset and Building Safety Compliance. Candidates will be experienced tradesmen in either plumbing or joinery.

 

You will be capable of effective communication with people at all levels, both externally and within the organisation. You will have good IT skills with a proven ability in using handheld devices for recording data.

 

You will be self motivated with a “can do” attitude and a have a right first time approach.
