Higher Level Teaching Assistant
Band I (17-20): £32654 - £35235) (FTE)
Term time only + 5 INSET days - 30 hours per week (permanent)
8.30am - 12.00pm (Monday - Friday) and 1.00pm – 3.30pm (Monday-Friday)


The Role
Bilton Infant School is a nurturing, fun and aspirational school which puts the children at the 
heart of all it does. It is a two-form entry infant school in Bilton, Rugby with up to 180 children, a committed and friendly team of staff and a supportive community. We are committed to 
being ‘the best we can be’.


We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated professional from the beginning of the Summer Term 2025 to take on the role of HLTA for 30 hours per week.

The successful candidate will:
• Advance children’s learning in a range of classroom settings, including working with 
individuals, small groups and whole classes where the assigned teacher is not present
• Cover and lead class teaching for PPA, leadership time and staff cover
• Plan, prepare and deliver lessons for children in Reception and KS1
• Use effective behaviour management strategies in line with the school policy
• Assess , record and report on the development, progress and attainment of children
• Work under the leadership of a qualified teacher assigned to the class, for timetabled 
core and foundation subjects
• Communicate effectively with children, families and staff
• Establish productive working relationships with children, acting as a role model, 
demonstrating positive values, attitudes and behaviour and setting high expectations
• Organise and manage children’s IEPs, maintaining, updating and reviewing progress
• Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all children within the classroom, encourage 
them to interact and work co-operatively with others and engage in all activities
• Contribute to the school’s statutory duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children

Requirements
We are highly focussed on overcoming barriers and promoting our shared values for children, 
families and staff and expect the successful candidate to:
- Hold HLTA status, by meeting the national professional standards for higher level 
teaching assistants (HLTA status has equivalence to NVQ level 4)
- Have considerable experience of teaching and learning in a school
- Be positive and consistent with managing relationships and behaviour
- Be able to adapt teaching styles to the needs of children


Higher Level Teaching Assistant
Band I (17-20): £32654 - £35235) (FTE)
- Promote the safety and wellbeing of children following KCSiE and the school’s 
Safeguarding policy
- Have effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Use ICT confidently to support teaching, learning and assessments.
- Be willing to undertake further training
It would be desirable if the successful candidate:
- Has experience of delivering Little Wandle Letters and Sounds phonics sessions
