This is a temporary post until 31st March 2026.

Would you like to become part of a small and friendly team who look after our bus station in Hanley as well as other bus facilities around the city?

We have a vacancy for a Duty Officer who will help ensure our bus station is safe and welcoming for customers, and check that safety rules are followed by all.

You will be working on a rota that covers six days a week between the hours of 0700 to 1900, with a mix of early or late starts and with one Saturday in every three or four worked.

If you enjoy working with people and like being out and about rather than stuck in an office, this could be the job for you.

You will need to have a degree of fitness as you will be on your feet for periods of time, but no additional physical attributes are required.

There are rest facilities where you can make a cuppa and have your lunch.

You probably know how friendly the people in our city are so if you want to help people ensure they enjoy their visit to the bus station and get the right bus to where they want to go, you’ll usually get a big 'thank you' and a large dose of satisfaction from this role.

If you want any more information before you decide if it’s for you, please contact us at travelsmart@stoke.gov.uk in the first instance, and we'll get right back to you.
