This is an opportunity to join a strong a strong and dynamic virtual school team which was highlighted as a key strength in a recent Ofsted safeguarding inspection.

The post is located within the Looked-after Children Service, which is part of the People Directorate. The post holder will be part of the Corporate Parenting and Education (COPE) team and Wolverhampton’s Virtual School for LAC.

The Looked After Children (LAC) service is seeking an Advisory Teacher to promote the learning and achievement of children and young people in the care of City of Wolverhampton Council.

The post holder will work closely with schools and other key partners, providing challenge and support to promote improved educational outcomes for Looked After Children (LAC). They will help to rigorously monitor the educational progress and attainment of LAC and ensure that the best possible support is in place to raise achievement. The role also includes line-management and supervisory responsibilities.

Excellent communication skills, drive and creativity are required for this post, as well as a strong knowledge of the statutory education sector and a commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable children. The post holder will preferably be a qualified teacher and will need to work flexibly and on their own initiative, as well as acting as the operational lead within a specialist team.
