Teaching Assistant Level 1
The Learning Development Department aims to increase whole-school and community awareness of the importance of quality and equality of opportunity for all students, regardless of ability or disability. We believe that the circumstances and environment in which a child learns can have a direct influence on their success.
The position will focus on working with students with complex emotional and behavioural needs and will require the candidate to work with colleagues and students in a variety of curriculum areas. The role will involve working within whole classes, with small groups and on a 1:1 basis to develop effective learning, promote positive behaviour and encourage independence. The successful candidate will also work closely with family and support services to provide appropriate intervention and monitor progress.
30.0 Hours per Week
The position requires initiative, enthusiasm, motivation and excellent written and verbal communication skills. An understanding of the varying needs of individuals is essential. Suitable candidates will have some experience of working with students or young adults and experience of working with students with challenging behaviour would also be an advantage. GCSE English and Maths at Level C or above is also required.
