SO1 £25,951 - £27,668 (pro-rata) per annum ( £13.45 - £14.34 per hour)
20 hours per week

The post holder is responsible under supervision for the administration of building regulations and allied legislation for a range of less complex applications from inception to completion.

The post holder will receive supervision in the technical aspects of the role from senior colleagues but will be expected to work within timescales, budgets and quality standards.

The post holder’s duties will include:

Undertaking basic appraisals, considering the technical, financial, and planning implications of schemes.

Developing design proposals, which provide the optimum solution for the client in terms of compliance, siting, orientation, energy rating, internal arrangement, appearance, and cost.

The preparation of detailed reports on less complex applications, successfully integrating building fabric with structure, services, and ICT in a cost effective and innovative way to comply with regulatory standards.

Liaising with statutory and regulatory bodies Planning, Fire Officers and service utilities to ensure that the proposals comply with legislation including CDM and other health & safety legislation.

Assisting in the administration of applications including the development and negotiation of fees.

Receive notification and take action upon receipt of dangerous structures and buildings under the guidance of the Principal or Area surveyor.

Dealing with demolition notices and relevant contractors and statutory bodies

The Post holder will have:

A relevant degree or substantial experience of working in the building trade.

Experience of the conceptual and detail design of less complex new build and refurbishment projects.

Experience of working as part of a multi disciplinary project team, meeting time and quality standards.

Experience of the day to day liaison and communication with contractors, clients, statutory authorities and excellent customer service skills.

Experience of having successfully working on a number of high quality projects.

Must be prepared to work unsociable hours, weekdays and weekends on an occasional basis to meet service demands
