Hours of Work: 28 hours per week

We are looking for a permanent part time licensing officer. The team is responsible for issuing and administering a range of licences, registrations and permissions mainly in respect of alcohol/entertainment, gambling and taxis, as well as providing detailed advice to businesses and the public in this regard.

It is desirable that applicants have experience of processing and determining, issuing and enforcement of a range of licences and permissions.

The ability to investigate offences and to present evidence to a licensing committee or in court in accordance with legislative requirements is essential to this role.

You must be competent with Microsoft Office and use of the internet and be an excellent communicator at all levels. Knowledge of the CIVICA environmental health database is desirable.

You will be required to work out of hours on occasions; therefore flexibility around working hours is essential.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and, as such, appointment will be conditional upon receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of criminal records via the Disclosure and Barring Service, before the appointment is confirmed.  This will include details of cautions, reprimands or final warnings, as well as convictions. A Standard Disclosure will be required.
