The Procurement and Brokerage Team support and manage procurement for corporate and vulnerable people service delivery areas and broker services for vulnerable people. We support colleagues across the Council to scope plan and deliver their procurement through a variety of routes. We work with operational colleagues, wider team members and service providers to source and broker care and support solutions (including transport) for vulnerable people through robust contracts in and outside the Borough. The team is key in supporting the whole Council to achieve services and solutions through Procurement and Brokering which focus on best value outcomes for the residents of the Borough.

Procurement Places are seeking to recruit a Procurement Officer to take initiative and work on various procurement projects across the Council. The applicant should enjoy a challenge, be able to project manage public procurement processes while being creative at alternative deliveries of services. You will coordinate internal and external stakeholders at all levels to deliver the end to end process of minor and major procurement projects. You will be able to advise internal stakeholders of procurement legislation and recommend procurement routes to letting contracts.

CIPS qualified, working to or equivalent, an in-depth knowledge of public sector procurement practice and general terms and conditions for goods and services in a fast changing environment. Strong persuading and influencing skills in addition to excellent project management skills will help you to deliver the required outcomes in a challenging yet exciting financial climate.

Your comprehensive knowledge of procurement law, e-procurement tools and techniques, together with your highly developed negotiation skills, will be matched by excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

This opportunity is part of the places team but on occasion you will be required to undertake projects for the people team who cover social care and public health procurement.
