East Staffordshire Borough Council provides a wide range of Leisure and Cultural Services within the Shared Services Department. These services include; three leisure centres - Meadowside Leisure Centre and Shobnall Leisure Complex, located in Burton upon Trent, and Uttoxeter Leisure Centre situated in the market town of Uttoxeter to the north of the Borough. The service also includes a Sports Development Team, based from Shobnall Leisure Complex, who provide a wide variety of sporting opportunities and activities. The Brewhouse Arts Centre (Burton upon Trent) and the Arts Development Team focus on the cultural elements of the team, delivering and supporting a broad cross section of arts related projects such as ‘story telling’, dance, film and music making.

Working closely together as well as with a number of key local and county wide partners, the Shared Service Team provide an enormous variety of opportunities, both sporting and cultural, for the residents across the Borough.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our successful team of Instructors. You will be provided with equipment and training so you are able to carry out fun, structured and developed lessons to ensure you get the best out of your pupils. You will teach a range of ages across levels such as beginner, intermediate and advanced with the possibility of teaching school swim classes and private lessons. As part of your role, you will be expected to complete paperwork including maintaining registers and badge testing, all designed to ensure the development of your classes. Most importantly, you will work with a team, led by the swimming co-ordinator, to deliver and develop a swim scheme which is already teaching over 700 children an important life skill.

A minimum Level 2 Swimming Instructor qualification is essential. A NPLQ/ Teacher's reach and rescue is desirable but not essential.

You should have excellent communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team, along with strong organisational skills and be reliable and adaptable.

The hours are on a casual 'as and when required' basis.
