Housing Outreach Officer (temporary 2 year fixed term contract)
This role will be based in the Housing Options/Homelessness Team and will involve driving solutions for vulnerable or troubled customers; particularly early intervention to prevent termination of an AST and move on from Council temporary accommodation.
The role involves managing customers in Council temporary accommodation, building positive relationships with local landlords and tenants. You will support front line Housing Options responsibilities, including providing advice on the full range of housing options available and issuing statutory S184 decision letters, letters of referrals to other local authorities, personal housing plans etc.
You must have experience in housing with the knowledge and understanding of the complex issues contributing to homelessness.
Undertake detailed casework with complex customers, including an assessment of needs and any risks, low level mediation with friends and family members, housing options advice, facilitating access to a full range of alternative accommodation, support to apply for benefits, referrals to learning and work opportunities and referrals to other agencies to address any unmet needs.
You must be able to respond proactively to situations as they develop, intervening and taking the initiative where appropriate.
You must hold a full driving licence and have own vehicle.
This is a temporary 2 year fixed term contract.
