Lakewood Court forms part of the My Options - Activity Wellbeing and Care Services which are part of Telford & Wrekin Council. We provide a wide range of person-centred support to vulnerable people of all ages and abilities.
Lakewood Court is a purpose built Residential Home for up to 18 people based in the heart of the Wellington community, we were rated ‘GOOD’ across all 5 outcome areas in our last CQC inspection. Being purpose built we are able to offer our customers an excellent service along with a highly trained, experienced and dedicated team who will promote independence and empowerment within a homely atmosphere.
We are looking to recruit experienced and highly motivated Enablement Workers to work at Lakewood Court. You will play a key role in the delivery of high quality 24/7 personalised enablement services which are delivered to adults with learning difficulties, PMLD and complex health and care needs. Supporting people to maximise independence, wellbeing and to positively engage in their local communities.
You will be able to demonstrate a positive track record in all aspects of support and enablement for vulnerable people, promoting independence wellbeing and community engagement. You will have experience in and a commitment to, delivering best quality and efficiency

To provide individualised support to customers in a variety of community and building based settings; to enable individuals to achieve personal objectives which look to maximise Independence, Choice, Wellbeing and Community Involvement.
The service forms part of Telford & Wrekin Council’s My Options Activity Wellbeing and Care Services which is delivered over a 24/7 working pattern. This is a regulated service and available for regular inspection by the Care Quality Commission, therefore requires a high level of accountability
To ensure the delivery of high quality, cost effective services and contribute to the transformation of ‘In-House’ services to a fully commercial and competitive range of traded services.
Maintain a customer focussed ethos at all times, ensuring the well-being of customers
To actively support Customers both one to one and in groups to be responsive to the individual needs of individuals within the framework of their support plans, and to respond flexibly to changing needs.
Involvement in the planning, implementation and review of support plans and risk assessments in conjunction with other staff.
To provide good quality, safe working practices and proactively support the quality assurance process of the service, in accordance with standards and regulations eg Care Quality Commission (CQC)
To liaise with Senior Enablement workers/Assistant Service Leader/ Service Leader at the beginning and end of each shift to relay any changes, and receive information regarding customers or service delivery.
To provide support with personal care, household management, creating and maintaining social networks, developing skills for learning and work, promoting general health and wellbeing, helping Customers to develop and fulfil their roles and responsibilities in their chosen community.
Liaise with carers and family members as and when required.
To report back to the Service Leader/Assistant Service Leader/ Senior Enablement Worker any concerns, changes or progress in the Customer’s circumstance and record these changes appropriately.
To comply with safe systems of work in accordance with Health and Safety, Safeguarding, administration of medication and other Policies and Procedures as identified as being relevant to your job role.
To communicate effectively using verbal and non verbal skills, and record information to a standard which is agreed? Attend team meetings as required
Undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade and status of post.
Ability to work with people using services individually or in small groups to achieve personal objectives which look to maximise independence, wellbeing choice and community involvement.
Ability to deliver practical aspects of safe services, including the delivery of individual or group enablement /support.
Ability to work safely and competently both individually and as part of a team
Ability to develop an understanding of professional conduct and a commitment to work within the guidelines of appropriate regulatory body. E.g. CQC
Ability to work to instructions, objectives and plans
Ability to cope in a crisis
Demonstrate Good ICT skills
Demonstrate written and verbal communication skills sufficient to contribute to record keeping systems an processes
Ability to maximise efficient and effective use of resources.
Ability to drive customer’s mobility cars, establishment or other vehicles –only if required for the post and discussed with your manager.
Although you are required to work within a specific rota (dependant on service area), you are required to have a flexible approach to work commitments in order to meet the changing needs of the service
Ability to support customers with all elements with their physical health needs, this may include pushing wheelchairs, using hoists, and where appropriate the use of MAPA techniques
Experience of providing support to people who may need to access Care and Enablement services
Demonstrate aptitude and awareness to support people with profound and multiple learning disabilities including those with complex health needs and/or behaviour that may challenge
Must have aptitude and awareness of delivering person centred care and enablement in a variety of settings in accordance with defined support plans.
Ability to meet the travel requirements of the post.
Willingness to work flexibly across The My Options Services as and when required.
Where a 7 day a week service is provided the post holder will work within a shift pattern – covering Bank Holidays/evenings, weekends and nights where necessary.
The grade for this post reflects the fact that the post holder will be expected to work a rota as part of their normal working week, which includes days, evenings, and weekends which means no additional enhancements are payable. Any over time worked will be paid at plain time.
