The purpose of the Traffic and Road Safety Group is to reduce the number of people killed and injured on Warwickshire's Roads, and to ensure traffic management and signing complies with key legislation and best practice. 

The Group has four teams which are responsible for:-

  • Parking Management 
  • Engineering Delivery
  • Education and Development
  • Driver Education Services 

These posts will be based in the Parking Management Team. Their remit is to manage the available parking facility on the Public Highway in Warwickshire, officers within the team administer on-street parking throughout Warwickshire from conception of restriction requirement, through formal proposal and implementation to enforcement and maintenance.

The successful applicants will support the Principal Engineer in setting the strategy for parking controls on-street in Warwickshire. Through regular interaction with stakeholders, including elected representatives and members of the public, the successful candidates will assist in compiling a programme of works to deliver changes to parking controls in the county. This will include the design and processing of Traffic Regulation Orders in compliance with relevant legislation.

The Role

37.0 Hours per Week

To liaise with various stakeholders including elected representatives, other Local Authority Officers and members of the public and advise them with regards to;

  • The statutory framework that underpins Parking Controls in the form of Traffic Regulation Orders and Civil Parking Enforcement Legislation.
  • Warwickshire County Council Parking Policy. 
  • Warwickshire County Council's procedures for managing parking controls

To assist in the management of Warwickshire County Council's process for maintaining and updating parking controls including;

  • Collating requests for parking controls. 
  • Assessing requests for parking controls in order to prioritise which request will be put forward for formal proposal. 
  • the process of advertising and implementing Traffic Regulation Order and keeping key stakeholders informed of progress.

To take an active role in advertising and implementing Traffic Regulation Orders, including complying with the legal process and using software such as AutoCAD and ParkMap.

Key Requirements

Desirable Criteria;

  • Experience of Parking Management and Traffic Management Engineering
  • Experience of introducing parking restrictions and processing Traffic Regulation Orders 
  • Dealing with Elected Members 
  • Experience of using CAD and designing traffic signs and lining drawings 
  • Experience of using Map Info/Park Map
