The GMAC, Birmingham, is a specialist gymnastics centre running successful programmes in Mens and Womens Artistic, Preschool, Tumbling Rhythmic and General Gymnastics. We are looking for an experienced forward thinking individual to join and lead the Recreational programme alongside other full and part-time staff.

 

This is a great career opportunity for a dynamic individual to bring their experiences and enhance what is an already successful and thriving City of Birmingham Gymnastics Programme which has a weekly throughput in excess of 1,400 General level gymnasts.

 

The post being advertised is Head of General Gymnastics under the direction of Birmingham City Council’s Gymnastics Development Manager, Phil Barrow. The hours will include extensive coaching hours, scheme administration and management roles which would include developing new and less experienced coaches.

To lead and supervise General (Recreational) coaching activity on the GMAC Gymnastics Programme from Foundation and Participation level).

2.1 To undertake the practical coaching and programme planning of the GMAC General (Recreational) Gymnastics classes.

 

2.2 To plan and regularly review a scheme of work in conjunction with the Assistant Gymnastics Development Officer and Gymnastics Development Officer, where appropriate. It is a requirement that all evaluated session plans are kept.

 

2.3 To undertake the training of gymnasts to compete in general gymnastics competitions and undertaking all coaching duties necessary at such competitions

 

2.4 To be responsible for the mentoring and Apprenticeship Programme Development for Level 1 and Level 2 coaches

 

2.5 Experience of organising the delivery of Holiday and competition programmes

 

2.6 To delegate activities to Level 1 & 2 coaches and supervise their work with all sub-groups as appropriate

 

2.7 To maintain accurate registers of attendance, all of which must be available for monitoring as required

 

2.8 To have an understanding of Health and Safety requirements within a sports environment and report all issues of concern to the Gymnastics Development Officer or Alexander Stadium Manager
