You will lead projects and programmes of both a strategic and local significance to the Council, undertaking capital programme development, delivery, management, co-ordination and control. You will work with third party scheme promoters, private developers and other public sector bodies in terms of the full range of transportation, traffic, highway management, safety and civil engineering functions. You will assist in the management of Infrastructure Delivery, implementing projects and programmes to meet performance standards and the challenging timetable of implementing the Commonwealth Games and HS2. You will manage people, projects and resources efficiently and effectively and to be innovative to support economic growth, congestion reduction, modal shift and accessibility. Working in partnership with other partners is a key.

Requirements of the role include:

Practical experience at a senior level for partnership working, technical and service delivery aspects of transportation infrastructure related projects and programmes. The ability to manage people, budgets and financial systems and deliver projects and programmes are essential requirements.

Individuals must demonstrate commitment to continuing professional development be a Chartered Engineer or equivalent professional qualification or experience.
